Instructional Design Assistant

Octave Innovation is the only full-service training program providing comprehensive training programs in the area of Precision Teaching (PT) and a PT focus on Behavior Analysis. We offer both asynchronous and live training programs in both organizations as well as in individualized cohort programs. We are seeking a curious and creative instructional design assistant to join the Octave team! This candidate will help support our Instructional Design team in designing and building course and program content in Precision Teaching and Behavior Analysis. Work with two Precision Teaching industry leaders in creating the content for our programs to help grow the field of Precision Teaching.

Instructional Design Assistant Job Responsibilities

  • Assists with the development and design of courses and curriculum.

  • Edits and develops online learning materials.

  • Assists with creating learning experiences and environments.

  • Assists with the development of instructor’s manuals, rubrics, and other teaching tools.

  • Collaborates with subject experts to develop course content.

  • Assists with analyzing learner data to teaching material. 

  • Assists with analyzing, updating, and refining existing online content.

  • Keeps current on best practices in instructional design.

  • Writes scripts for video and audio content.

This position is a part-time position. Hours are flexible, although some regular business hours are required for meetings and collaboration. Salary range is competitive DOE. We offer ongoing comprehensive training, mentoring, and guidance in Instructional Design, Behavior Analysis, and Precision Teaching.

Instructional Designer Qualifications/Skills

  • Knowledge of instructional design principles and their integration in Behavior Analysis

  • Training and experience in Precision Teaching and Behavior Analysis

  • Has clinical experience working with a wide range of learners

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills

  • Experience working with Google Drive, Keynote, iMovie, Asana, Slack, and other technology platforms

  • Ability to collaborate and take and implement feedback from the Instructional Design team

  • Critical thinking skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous deadlines

  • Familiarity with LMS systems is a bonus

Education, Experience & Licensing Requirements

  • BS, MS, or higher degree in instructional design, Behavior Analysis, education, or related field

  • Experience with Precision Teaching and Instructional Design as it is applied within the PT field

  • Experience with presentation software (Keynote, Powerpoint, Google Slides)

  • Previous experience designing instruction using the principles set by Tiemann and Markle (1991)
